50 perish at Fort Ternan on Moi Day

At least 50 people have perished after a bus that was travelling from Nairobi to Kisumu veered of the road at Fort Ternan in Kericho County.

Police Commander Mr. James Mogera has said the 67-seater bus is said to have veered off the road while descending a steep slope.

The bus then hit a guard rail, rolled and plunged down about 20 metres.

Those who witnessed the accident said it occurred at around 5am.

The Police Commander has said more people are feared dead as some are still trapped inside.

The cause of the accident has not been determined.

Rescue mission is ongoing.
